"Declaring your same-sex relationship to Centrelink"

Same-sex de facto relationships will be recognised under Social Security and Family Assistance law from 1 July 2009.  A new factsheet about this issue has been posted on the website today. This factsheet is for people in same-sex relationships who are now treated as single by Centrelink and are unsure whether they will be  treated as a member of a couple by Centrelink from 1 July 2009.  We hope it will be useful for all people interested or concerned about the changes and for community workers in the field.”
