Special Benefit will not be payable to a person holding a temporary visa nominated by the Minister, where they are subject to the seasonal workers preclusion period. The seasonal work rules applying to people on Special Benefit are the same as those applying to people on Newstart Allowance (see Chapter 8, section 5).
Special Benefit will also not be payable to a person for 26 weeks, where Centrelink decides that the person has reduced their employment prospects by moving. The rules, which apply to people on Newstart Allowance in relation to this non-payment period, also apply to Special Benefit (see Chapter 22).
