  • Services provided: Fremantle Community Legal Centre is a non-profit organisation which provides legal and para-legal services to low income members of the community. Services provided under the Welfare Rights program include:
    • Information on Social Security matters;
    • Independent advice about Social Security matters and rights;
    • Advocacy in dealing with Centrelink;
    • Assistance with appeals;
    • Preparation of cases and representation at the Social Security Appeals Tribunal and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal;
    • Education to community groups on appeal rights and Social Security matters; and
    • Input in law reform campaign/policy matters.
  • Geographical area covered by the Centre: Fremantle region and south/west coastal areas

  • Contact times/days for clients: Open Monday to Friday 9-4.

  • Appointment required or can clients drop in? People are asked to talk to the advocate prior to an appointment being made.

  • Services provided: Information and advice regarding Social Security and other related rights and entitlements. Direct negotiation and advocacy on behalf of clients with Centrelink. Assistance to prepare and carry out appeals. Assistance and representation with appeals to Social Security Appeals Tribunal and Administrative Appeals Tribunal. The provision of information and education to the community (both other workers and community members in general).

  • Geographical area covered by the Centre: South east metropolitan area and rural areas east of Albany highway extending to South Australian border

  • Contact days/times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am - 4.30pm (but not between 1.00pm and 2.00pm)

  • Services provided: Advice, information, advocacy and assistance, particularly with Centrelink and Family Assistance Office matters and appeals and also provide some assistance in relation to Social Security prosecution matters.  Apart from casework assistance we also conduct community legal education and welfare reform activities.

  • Geographical area covered by the Centre: North of the Swan River (within metropolitan Perth) and rural and remote areas in the north of the state across to the Northern Territory/South Australian border.
