• Casework
  

  • The Welfare Rights Service offers casework assistance to individuals and families who have Social Security matters or family assistance matters.

• With respect to casework, the Welfare Rights Centre offers:
  

  • Referrals;
    

  • Telephone information and advice;
    

  • Mail information and advice;
    

  • Face to face information and advice; and
    

  • Court and tribunal representation.

• The Welfare Rights Service offers representation to individuals who have applications before:
  

  • The Social Security Appeals Tribunal;

  • The Administrative Appeals Tribunal; and

  • The Federal Court of Australia.

• The Welfare Rights Service assists people with the following matters:
  

  • Complaints to the Commonwealth Ombudsman;

  • Complaints to the Privacy Commissioner; and

  • Freedom of Information applications.

• Geographical area covered by the Centre: The Welfare Rights Service offers face to face services to individuals and families in Townsville and Thuringowa. Telephone information and advice is offered to people outside the Townsville local area.
