About the Handbook

The ONLINE EDITION Independent Social Security Handbook provides community workers in the front line with a simple, yet comprehensive guide to the main aspects of the Social Security system so that they can help their clients through the Social Security maze.

ONLINE EDITION is updated every quarter to take into account the most recent changes to Social Security law and its administration.

Divided into 53 chapters, the ONLINE EDITION and includes information about all Social Security payments, debts and appeals. The Handbook is an invaluable tool for welfare and community workers who deal with Centrelink and who help clients try and sort out their Social Security problems.

Many community workers and state government employees in Tasmania  have been provided with “free” access to the ONLINE EDITION of the Handbook through the Tasmanian Government having purchased a general subscription. For more details about this please click on the relevant state below:
