Each NWRN member organisation provides casework assistance to its clients, generally by phone, at least in the first instance. NWRN members also conduct training and education for community workers and produce various publications. The NWRN also engages in policy work and lobbying to improve the current Social Security system.
Welfare Rights advocates are located either in a specialist community legal centre that works predominantly in Social Security law and its administration through Centrelink, or in a generalist legal centre that also provides assistance in other areas of law. Members of the NWRN generally provide services on a regional or state-wide basis. A complete list of NWRN member organisations is set out below. To find your local NWRN organisation click on the Centre/service closest to where you live.
